Me and my husband live in base housing, and my aunt recently got kicked out of the place she was staying. Can she move with us temporarily?

Me and my husband live in base housing, and my aunt recently got kicked out of the place she was staying. Would it be possible to have her move on base with us? Would it be considered a family emergency so that she can live on base with us temporarily?

If it were me, I would check with base housing.

I would recommend reading the lease agreement, I believe it stipulates the length of time that a visitor turns into Tenant.

This comes down to your housing contract, since most base housing units are now privatized. I agree with PO1 H Gene Lawrence Check with housing office for the right answer.
Where it would become more difficult, is if you have to go through a base entrance gate to get to your home, because then you would need a visitor pass every time you re-entered the base with her in the car.

You might be able to confer dependent status upon her which means she can shop on post and use the MTF.

There is or was a specified time limit for guest to stay in base housing. Must check base housing office, or Garrison Cdr.

I Would Not Recommend It, You Would Be Responsible For Anything She May Do.
Let’s Say She Is Driving Your Car And Gets Into An Accident The MPs And Your CoC Could Come Down On You.
She Will Not Have Access To Anything On Post Without You Being There .
Take This From First Hand Experience, My Wife’s Sister Spent A Week With Us On Post And Got A Speeding Ticket Driving My Wife’s Car , I Got Called In Front Of The Garrison Commander For Letting Her Drive On Post Unaccompanied , I Got My Butt Chewed Out, And Was Told She Had 24 Hours To Get Off The Post.
That Was In 2001 At Ft Irwin , I Don’t Know About Now.

All very simple guidance, contact housing. What I would not do is try to circumvent the system. Regardless of civilian management or not a Service Member is subject to UCMJ if they violate their agreements, as it is on base and under the control of the housing management office. Just do it correctly.

It would not be considered a family emergency because she is not immediate family and most likely not entered in DEERS. However, most state-side base housing will allow it if you submit a request before hand, and state the length of time you expect her to reside with you. Best to always state it as "most likely only ____" and then when there's 10 days left and she's still with you, submit PROOF that she has been looking and reasons that prevent her from obtaining a residence of her own and request an extension. The extension is much harder to get approved if she has been with you for 60 days.
