Medical Equipment on Uniform.

A buddy of mine got hurt and he now has to wear a knee brace (picture Forrest Gump like knee brace) and he says he wants to paint it Gold. is there any regulation that specifies medical equipment of that kind has to be a certain color while wearing Uniform?

I don't know about army, but in the Marine Corps that would probably just get knocked down for being eccentric or something. Pretty sure it wouldn't really promote uniformity.

If the military medical facility issued that leg brace then it therefore falls under the guidelines of government property. Tell your friend to go ahead and paint that thing gold and see what happens when his NCOs see that. It wont be pretty.

If it's going to be effective and not just decoration, it should be worn directly against the leg, not over a pant leg. ACU pants are baggy enough to accommodate this.

Most of those medical devices by default are black, some are dark blue. Gold will not be allowed in uniform
