Medics... no smoking. Did I read this correctly?

Did I read this correctly? Health care personnel cannot smoke (during the duty day or while in uniform) - everyone else can?

If this happened while I was in - I would have been hurting.

Smoking is a terrible habit.
That being said ... I burned piles of them!
I have also watched Korengal and Battleground Afghanistan.
If they turn off smoking .. the Army / Marines are going to seize up!

That's the way I read it too. I did notice that military hospitals, at least Army hospitals, are tobacco free.

I was on vacation to Hawaii 2 months ago and ended up in Tripler AMC for 2 1/2 days and noticed the "No tobacco usage" signs all over the place.

I don't smoke so I wasn't overly concerned. I do dip though, and trust me I was dipping in my hospital bed! :)

The Corpsmen were always the heaviest smokers!

I've known doctors who smoke, and dentists who dip.

I guess you can't do the guilt trip if you're offending as well. Like a dentist that doesn't floss or who has a fat dip in his lip.

I just saw an episode of the old show Emergency and the docs were smoking in the hospital. It caught my eye real quick. I guess I don't expect to see it. Now that I think about it, the nutritionists are all skinny too....

There may be some logic to medics not smoking from the standpoint of promoting a healthy life style to those soldiers medics interact with throughout the normal duty day. I know how hard it is to quit; but I stand as a living witness to the fact that you can quit!

So medics and corpsman should not be shot at either....being shot also promotes bad health.
