A lot of places give discounts if you just ask. Locally Wendy's Restaurants do, Burger King does at one location but not another (so I don't go there!). Michaels Craft Stores (15%), Lowes (10%). Local Home Depot said they don't (So I go to Lowes!). You won't know unless you ask!

I always thought the discount you get from Disney either land or world was a major discount from what the others were paying.
First time I ever used it was 5 day pass for $99 per person up to 6 passes
Non-military was paying $256 for the same pass.
This was back in 2012 apporox.

I know of two that I have used personally here in Wisconsin: Michael’s, the craft store and Pet Supplies Plus. I believe Michaels is 15% and Pet Supplies Plus is 10%.

In Michigan or close to it: Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort has a " hero" card for active military and veterans. This card gives you $20 gameplay, $10 meal vouchers on the 1st and 15th of every month. It also gives you 1 free night stay at the resort during your birthmonth and reduced prices on live shows. Whatever you folks do, DO NOT join Veteran's Advantage. It just not worth it, there are no real discounts and they make it next to impossible to quit. They will do everything they can to keep charging you their annual rate. I had to threaten legal action to finally get their attention and cancel my membership. Disgraceful way to treat us Vets.

I use Lowe's discount all the time. I rarely go to Home Depot because theirs is harder to use.
Sometimes a store will tell me about the discount. I usually ask; it saves me the sales tax!

Lowe's sets up an id number for you to use that automatically brings up the discount. The automated checkouts even thanks you for your service.

Interestingly, our local Ace Hardware started offering a military discount recently. Posted it on the door, for Active, retired and veterans.
Both Advance Auto Parts and Autozone offer 10% as well. Autozone's is fairly new as well.

What about having a WILL made? I tried the Local Veterans Rep. Whom sent me to talk to another
Admin person. That person sent me to a website, which stated if I earn over $40k per year.

expertvoice.com by far is going one of the best discount sites for vets. You have to link you dd-214 or .mil address to it but there are a lot of brands that give discount to veterans and active duty that most wouldn't even think about. Some of the discounts are locked and they ask you to take a few short few minute courses to get some of the discounts to unlock them but this is a year round thing. I would suggest checking it out and even some of the bigger businesses have discounts set up through there as well say for instance you work for a major retail clothing store you may get access to various stuff that others wouldn't get. The amount of military discounts on there is quite impressive and there are several veteran owned business on there so it is always nice supporting vet owned businesses.

Of course like has been mentioned several times lowes and home depot gets used quite a bit.

Lowes is great but., making it a little more difficult to use and won't give on sale of certain marked down items.
Our Snyder's Factory Outlet (Hanover, PA) does 15% which is awesome for pretzel and chip lovers out there.
Most online shops will and have systems in place to verify.
One that doesn't and I don't mind is Mission BBQ they do a lot for vet's, first responders and the community. Military appreciation week is next week with each branch getting a day and Saturday for all.

I can confirm what our Veterans are reporting: Lowe's and Home Depot 10% military discount, I've used it many times. Brook's Brothers offers 20% discount. Some Chick Fila offer 10% Grotto's Pizza offers 10% military discount, even on their specials. Pep Boy's Auto offers 10% military discount. Harbor Shack in Rock Hall, MD, offers 10% military discount

May is my birthday month so YAY!!
Red Robin (Burgers mainly) gives a free burger and usually throw in the fries and a drink during your birthday month. All you have to do is sign up for their email and all I get are food promotions.
Red Lobster gives a free desert and I think again, email signup. I don't go to restaurants for desert.
Around here Veterans Day is when there are better deals. Before someone gets all butthurt about it, a lot of people and businesses don't know how to do more than "Thank you." A lot of people don't think that's enough.
If a business gives a discount at all you can say, "Thank you for your support." If they get confused, I tell them that doing their job and serving our loved ones while we're gone IS support.
Starbucks does NOT support the military and sell crappy brown water anyway.

When it comes to discounts, you can check on line before going to the place. The best way is to just ask when you enter remembering not to offend them when they say no. A lot of places only give to active duty. So be aware and have a great shopping, dining, or great time.

Big Lots has a 10% discount on all items every day https://www.biglots.com/page/discountprogram . Big Lots will also "stack" discounts, so for instance you can use the 10% veterans discount and the 20% Friends and Family discount on the same purchase.

Lowes is great, I get 10% off every purchase. I registered at the service desk and showed my DD214 once and have gotten the discount since. They also have special parking spots for veterans. For Veterans day they gave me a U S flag. Lowe's does not just give lip service but backs up their commitment to veterans with actions.

Home Depot will NOT give a military discount unless you have some kind of VA card, not all vets have a VA I D card, in Winter Haven Fl the Home Depot would not honor a state Vet Id Card nor would they honor a copy of my DD214 which I had with me. Wrote to corporate and they backed up the local store, told me that they didn't give to all vets just ones that had the VA card ID.
Went to Lowes's, no problem just signed up on line and it was a done deal.
In short Home Depot doesn't recognize ALL veterans just a select few.
this may have changed over the last 2 years, I haven't gone back since then, Lowe's is my place
