Why is it that the media and USG "allow" (read: turn a blind eye to) information IRT capabilities, technologies, etc., posted on-line in public domain? Granted, sometimes such technology or capabilities are already known, or - at the very least - speculated about.

Nothing new. I remember having the ranges of our TOW classified and finding the information at the local library...that was before the internet, so today it is all right at your fingers.
