The nation’s highest military court has affirmed the conviction and death sentence for Hasan K. Akbar, who admitted killing two fellow U.S. soldiers at the start of the Iraq War.

This coward attacked members of his own team, while they slept. At a dozen years past this attack, the time to impose punishment is here. I am ready for the sentence to be imposed.

12 yrs is a long time for this particular appeals process. Didn't the evidence have him dead to rights? Didn't he confess to the attacks?

CH (MAJ) Private RallyPoint Member - I totally support this. Will he ever actually be executed? Unlikely any time soon. The military has not executed anybody in over 50 years and there are others with approved sentences years ahead of him.

Back several years ago, I had friend (a fellow Army 0-6 MP) who was the Commandant of the US Disciplinary Barracks (USDB), where military executions would take place. It looked like the President was going to go ahead and sign an execution order for one of the inmates on death row and he (the USDB Commandant) was concerned he would actually have to carry it out. I told him that he could certainly call on me to carry out the order if he did not want to. Because of the heinous nature of the crime the inmate committed, I had no qualms, whatsoever, with giving the order. Of course, that duty came with his position and he could not delegate it.
