While pertaining mostly to Ft. Sill, the answer is relevant to the Army as a whole. I was quite surprised when I first heard the significance of its design.

Snow Hall, a building on Ft. Sill, is designed to resemble a (what)? And what is its significance? The attached pic is what it looks like from google maps.

This isnt designed to really stump anyone, but to share some military history which I only fount out a few months ago...

Common knowledge, and education, teaches us that gold is higher in value than silver. Furthermore, our military officer ranks use both silver and gold in the design and appearance of each rank. In the Civil War, the first real battle between the two armies was First Mannassas/Bull Run. The Civil War ended at Appomatox Court house.

One Gentleman lived at Manassas during the first battle of Bull Run. He later moved to Appomatox Court house, and the surrender of the General Lee's Army took place at his house. He quipped that the War started in his front yard and ended in his front parlor.
