We all had that crusty ol' Sergeant Major/Master Chief/Master Guns, who had a "less than cordial" saying or two.

And despite the rude, crude nature, they always seemed to ring true, right?

What's your favorite piece of jargon or phrase from your senior enlisted leadership?

Was it accurate? funny? both?

Had an old 1SG that used to say "that's dumber than a football bat" at just about any stupid idea or situation that occurred.

Had an acting SGM that always voiced his rejection by saying "that dog don't hunt".

Had a 1SG early in my career who would say
"that (____) couldn't lead a boy scout troop in a silent prayer"
another favorite:

snail farts, still get a chill at the thought of one of my CSM's saying "maybe he needs some help smelling snail farts", which basically means dog your ass until you're so physically and mentally beaten, well after you have thrown up and the dry heaves have started, they you honestly feel you can smell snail farts.....no cheating to get out of this early, they'd always know when you were telling the truth. Only found myself in the situation once, more than enough, but witnessed this on several occasions, took me around 3.5 hrs before I got there, running 8 miles in boots, holding your M16 out front, up downs, push ups, sits ups, dead cockroach pose, all the greatest hits non stop, wish I could remember something witty or positive, but no, just snail farts
