I’m a Tech in the Guard though and it’s a pretty sweet gig. The slot I work in full time is actually a 92A slot but here they open it to 15 and 92 series because it’s at an aviation support facility. I’m the lowest paid guy on the compound but it’s still better money than anywhere else around here. The benefits are head and shoulders above anywhere else too. You also don’t have to worry about employers getting shady about your military commitments. ARMY Reserve can be ation wide progression. Guard you progress within your state. Moving to another state possible but odds are against you. As a dual status Guardsman in most of the positions you are required to wear your military uniform. Lose your reserve status and you lose your career. Both amount to the same- you make it what you make out of it. The Guard has been told to reduce the dual status techs for a while so if they lose the fight- and they have been, expect that to be a different set of variables. They are making those positions civilian and your job will no longer be tied to your reserve service. You can make much more money in the civilian life at that point. As the only raises will be from what the Pentagon gives you. The last 6 years had been 1 percent give or take a few additional points. The Army Reserve is working to get their WG and GS structure upgraded. The MilTech program is dual status, and there is some ability to move from one to another. USAJobs has the advertised positions. It’s a great time to get into a MilTech position COL Ardis Ferguson Tue, 12 Jun 2018 21:25:05 -0400 2018-06-12T21:25:05-04:00 2018-04-16T17:02:25-04:00
