In my 18+ years in the Army I have seen many changes. I seen the Army go from "Be all you can be" to "Army of one" to "Army strong". I'm on my 2nd dress uniform, 3rd PT uniform and soon to be 3rd field uniform. I remember when I PCSed from the Pentagon to Germany in 2005, I was already in ACUs. I was forced to buy BDUs and black boots to only wear them for less than 4 months. Now we have the new black and yellow PT uniforms, being an AITPSG I prefer to be on the cutting edge as well as lead from the front, yet, despite Soldiers coming to us from BCT now wearing the new uniforms, we have been instructed to NOT wear the new PT uniform until April. I personally feel that worrying about a lack of uniformity during transition periods between new uniforms is moot at best. With wear out dates years from the issuing of new uniforms, the influx of new Soldiers wearing the new gear and the infinite variations of months that Soldiers receive their clothing allowances (I am aware that uniform items may be bought at any time if needed), there are BOUND to be mixed formations everywhere you go, so why concern ourselves with that when the mission and welfare of the Servicemembers trumps all? What are your thoughts?

I know I am not answering your question but I wanted to comment on the pt uniform. I still haven't seen any BCT Soldiers with the new one yet but I am waiting for it. Our leadership has not said anything about it even though I asked a few times already. In my opinion, waiting months or years to wear the damned thing is pretty stupid.

The other half of the issue.....I actually tried to get the new PT uniform and can't find a complete set at any of the clothing and sales that I have been to. I don't want any of it taking up space in my closest until I can get all of it and retire the old.
