MOBCOP Question: Has anyone had success using the MOBCOP Tour of Duty website?

SGT Private RallyPoint Member, I tried to access the MOBCOP site and Google Chrome gave me kind of a scary warning about no certificate.

Could it be that a CAC is required to access the site? I've seen similar warnings (similar, but not exactly the same) when I try to access sites that require CAC authentication and I don't have a CAC card connected.

Yes, I have used it. If you are going thru the mobilization process (CO-ADOS) you will see your packet status on MOBCOP.

There is also a search function in which you can see advertised tours based on rank, MOS and location.

No directly, but I have talked to a sergeant who was active army who said he had worked with guard soldiers on deployment who had success

SGT Private RallyPoint Member Yes, I was selected for a stateside tour at Fort Dix, NJ. Then they told me they were PCSing me as opposed to TCS (which had just been discontinued to save funds). In the end, I turned the tour down.

It works, but it is s SLOW process.

Absolutely. It is a tedious process and you are definitely competing against others for the job. Its important to make sure you have permission from your current command to pursue the duty position otherwise you are wasting time. If you've got any glaring deficiencies or your records, etc are not up to date, I'd say don't even bother. If you're good to go, and have a green light from your command, then it is absolutely worth applying for a position. Just be ready for it to be a fairly decent process. It can take anywhere from 2-6 months.

What is the purpose of this website? I never heard of it before. Is it tailored more for Reservists and National Guardsmen?

I have a applied for quite a few positions, then I emailed the POC listed because I am convinced the requestor knows who they want for the position when they post. This way if that person falls through, they have me in mind. I haven't had much success yet but I am fairly new on the site. Additionally, some of the positions posted also seem to be past due but are still listed.

It works and everyone's comments are correct. My perception is most Soldiers are chosen on a by name bases. They have to put the position in the system because they have too, but they just chose some one they know anyways. I applied for maybe 20 positions and was called back for one from a command that did not know me and ended up taking a different position based on a by name request.

Currently, I am in the process of getting my orders approved. This is my results, which is still currently on going. I actually applied for a PFI (personnel force innovation) tour. Little did I know, that all the information I uploaded to PFI, would eventually turn into a reserved TOD job for me to apply to. The PFI team actually takes the information and builds the job ID request and reserves it with you social sec number, so only you can access it. Which is a nice thing because it limits the job to strictly you applying. Right now on my TOD, I'm tracking the actions. I just received the BDE green light but its like the chutes and ladders game, difficult going on, easy to come down. I haven't had any issues yet with it, but I do have concerns.

It works, but it is slow. If you are in a hurry to get employment, look elsewhere. If you are Guard or Reserve you can also try the Personnel Force Innovation website at: http://pfi.dod.mil/

Ive had success both volunteering and facilitating a command direct process using MOBCOP. If you keep it unto date just like a promotion packet and submit your "resume" for the jobs you want, you shouldn't have an issue. Good luck.

I went to the post library today because I can't access this site from home. So I typed in the web address and it asked for a user id and password. I'm a reserve retiree trying to volunteer for a tour, now I'm totally stumped.
