It has a couple of inaccuracies, but the one that is very obvious for military reasons, was when they are on board the ships at see after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The movie was made in 1965, so you know the fire control radar sets that are on the ships were NOT the Mark 37 sets of WWII, they were the Mark 68, which had the AN/SPG-53 radar dish on them. Which was in use at this time. Now I do believe the ships used were of WWII vintage, but with the upgrades to them on the fire control sets, you can tell that it was not 100% a WWII ship.
TSgt Scott Hurley Sun, 13 Apr 2014 20:28:22 -0400 2014-04-13T20:28:22-04:00 Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 14 at 2014 4:18 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/most-memorable-military-movie-discrepancies?n=101743&urlhash=101743

In the climactic scene of the 1989 civil war epic Glory, the ocean is on the wrong side during the attack on Fort Wagner. Sir he yells this in the middle of the Japanese attack....I highly doubt that any more the men would have yelled that out at any point during the war.
Not only that Sir but whenever I watch the movie with my dad he can point out things that are inaccurate about every 2.5 minutes. So i would throw that entire movie up there. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 13 Oct 2014 20:12:58 -0400 2014-10-13T20:12:58-04:00 Response by SSG Maurice P. made Nov 2 at 2014 12:24 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/most-memorable-military-movie-discrepancies?n=306809&urlhash=306809

people i'm not trying to offend anyone but the liberal Hollywood movie (the walking dead) had a big discrepansy.........................someone said in the movie that it was a black mans Vietnam experience...I was with the walking dead 6 years after it was infamous and 85% of that 1st battalion 9th marines were white i can imagine 6 years earlier that it probably had more than 85% if i'm wrong i will apologize, just trying to keep it real!!!1June1977 1st battalion 9th marines 3rd mar div went up and over mt fujihama in japan... Right before I arrived they had filmed the first Transformers using A0024, and used A0027 I believe in Terminator Salvation.

Of course, having worked on the plane, I had to see what they did in the films. The one stand out thing is in Terminator they show the cockpit of the V-22 flying the lead somewhere. In the center of the cockpit is a display, the Center Cockpit Display (forget the technical name for it, CDU I think?). On that display shows the CV-22 all in red. Now to those who don't know, when the plane is "red" on the screen in certain areas, means that system is non-operational; either its not turned on, deactivated, etc. What this meant was they were running the plane off ground power for the shots, so essentially (if it were airborne) your plane would be like "OH SHIT WE'RE CRASHING!"

I laughed when I saw that. They could have AT LEAST brought up a random menu or something. The pistol was maybe a .38 or .357 with a 2" barrel. The character has no rounds in his pockets and never empties the cylinder. For even more entertainment value, I notice that at one point, he pulls the hammer back twice between shot one and two. Action begins at 10:14 in the last episode of season four. Gruesome and NSFW. With few accepting they change the war and the uniforms, but retell the same story over and over again---Soldiers who disobey incompetent officers, sadistic Sergeants, a main character that deserts because of war crimes he's committed, or witnessed and remained silent about---The main character will go home--become an alcoholic or drug addict and kill himself in the end. If they want to put a twist on it they'll have him kill his entire family, and then kill himself. I can never understand why anyone would spend millions making these stink bomb, no one goes to see. I just can't do it. My take on all of them has changed. Remember, movies are for entertainment and the reality of "it" is not entertainment. I can understand, a little, the movie industry's morale/propaganda movies during World War Two; back then Americans paid for the war and war bonds were important. The Movie industry helped in this endeavor; but today, none of it works. How about Transformers. Helicopter lands every Security Forces shows up and sets up a 360 around it with .50 calls, 240B and 249s and what do they all do start firing without looking at the backdrop.
