My 6-year contract is about to end and I want to go active duty from the National Guard. Can I reclassify from 11B to 42A?

I would imagine if you have the line scores from your last ASVAB that should be a go.

I would direct this kind of question to a recruiter or career counselor. The rules for switching from guard to active duty or reserve to active duty are always changing. Sometimes they want them and sometimes they don't. Along with that, sometimes the active component doesn't want any prior service at times. It just depends. Also, when switching MOSs like that you must look at more than just your ASVAB scores to see if you can do it. Your rank is CPL, I'm guessing that you may have profitable status. You may have to sign away the P before they let you change MOSs. You will possibly lose rank as well. I've watched it happen where coming from guard to active caused a service member to lose a grade. In order to fully understand what you must do and what will occur during the process, go speak with your unit career counselor or the local recruiting office. You said that your enlistment is nearly over so I would just go to the recruiter because your window has probably long since closed.

I was just curious...are you in school now? Assocs? Bach? What major? HR related? Management? Admin major? Paralegal? Any interest in law? I only ask as such questions interest me...have younecer done Amy HR at all? What prompts your interest in it? Do you want ultimately senior enlisted? Warrant? Commissioned? Would you be willing to try to go interservice st all? Any ROTC interest? USMC platoon leaders course (PLC) which is less well known? Any specific type of HR? Clinical HR? Nonclinical HR? If you could elaborate at all, so far as possible, I might be able to suggest other various possibilities...have you also looked at AGR? Guard tech? Reserve tech? Would it have to be Army? Could you try for one of the other svcs, as I'd said? Interesting question...I'd be most eager to hear more, hope was of use, many thanks....
