My brother took his ASVAB last week. Can the recruiter tell him what jobs are actually available for him when he joins?

The recruiters saying he can’t tel him what jobs are available unless he joins. Please help.

I believe that the only way he can find out for sure what jobs are available is by going through the enlistment process and sits down to pick a job when he goes to MEPS. The recruiter can give him an idea of what he is qualified for, but the availability of jobs changes frequently. MEPS will have the most updated lists.

The recruiter can inform him what MOS's are available now for him based on his ASVAB.

As long as he's talking to an Army recruiter, the only way for him to join is by picking a job. It's not possible for him to join first and then find a job.

The recruiter can only give you an opinion (although it could be a very accurate one). The person who can actually tell you is the career counselor at the MEPS.

Is this Army, or another branch?
For Active Duty Army, the Guidance Counselor at MEPS informs him of all the current openings he is qualified for, before he contracts for one. If your brother is not interested in any of them, he can leave MEPS without a contract and start over.

Army Guard, the recruiter can see the vacancies for the whole state, and writes the contract for a specific unit and MOS, prior to MEPS. Your brother still has to go through MEPS before he can sign a contract.

Army Reserve, someone else here would have to answer.
