My first unit is a Cav unit and I recently got my Stetson. Am I allowed to wear the Stetson in civilians?

I’m just curious I’ve seen some of the guys in my unit do it but idk what is regulation cause I’m going to a country music festival and I wanted to rep my unit and wear my Cav Stetson.

The Stetson isn’t official military gear so you can. It’s not typical though, at least when I was Cav 04-08. But it’s not *wrong* so do what you want.

buy a cowboy hat and a cav pin. put the pin on that hat. I would not wear your issue Stetson to a music festival. what if it gets lost or damaged?

I earned my Stetson a long time ago and treat it as one of my best awards. If you would wear your highest medal to that concert, then you need to think about the heritage of that award or medal. It's still your decision.

Yes you CAN wear your stetson in civvies. However, you are not allowed to display rank when you do.

They are not authorized military gear HOWEVER due to Spirit De Corps you are allowed to wear them within your squadron footprint on whatever day your unit allows it. For me in 8-1 Cav, it is allowed on fridays and any squadron event. It is also not frowned upon to wear it to the board, makes our current SGM happy.

What are they going to do to you cut your hair short and send you to a combat zone? My friends and I are older than you and our wives would just wonderful now providing you with adult supervision is the Army's problem again!!!!!!!!
