Pros and Cons of y’all’s personal experience. As a base in general what would y’all overall rate it. I know every base is different and has different standards. Close to multiple beaches as well as Jacksonville is a two hour drive south. I never used child care on post “expensive”. I’m not dual military but I would say to look for off post housing outside of Hinesville. If you and your family decide to stay on post, try and get into South Bryan or Southen Oaks neighborhood. Savannah is nice...but a 90 min drive from post, so not as close as most people say. It's 3ID....so mechanized, which brings mech mentality to everything (like the only school that matters is Master Gunner, doesn't matter what MOS). 4 hrs to Atlanta, hot AF, humid AF, controlled burns throughout the summer making the post COVERED in smoke. It's a small cantonment area compared to most other posts.
Worst I've been to so far..... Stewart is mediocre at best. Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. I can't comment on the beaches because the one beach that's there is overly packed in any sunny weekend. But I know a lot of people who love it. Also, Hinesville is where People of Walmart originated, so be ready for that. Fort Hood, Fort Riley, and Fort Stewart. These are the 3 duty stations that are tagged for the yearly rotations to Eastern Europe and Korea. So if you like traveling you're gonna love it.

I was in 3rd ID, 2-7 INF, Fox Co, distro Platoon from 2012 to 2016. When I arrived it was towards the end of the constant combat rotations and the beginning of the constant OAR (Eastern Europe) rotations as I left.

You are going to be doing constant gunnery missions, Marne Focus and Raider Focus (BST). So its constant field ops. And these are on top of the bi-annual NTC or JRTC rotations.

Fort Stewart is a meat grinder. Not really meant for progression. If you SURVIVE this duty station than that is considered a successful tour. My distro platoon had an 85% career ending rate. Meaning only 15% were able to successfully PCS or ETS. The early enders included, AWOLs, DUIs, PT test failures, marijuana possession, and finding ways to MED board themselves out.

Worst duty station I served at.
