He wants a full time position though and last we check AD is only taking special forces. He is a 92A but when deployed worked as 92Y. We were under the assumption he had be enlisted before he could apply for AGR. But Army.com says you have to be discharged. If he wants AGR, should he apply now before getting back in? The recruiter makes it sound way to easy. He says "if a slot is open, you just apply"...... My husband has been out CT NG since '10. Should he see about a AGR postion first? Or re enter, then apply? 2015-04-08T22:59:53-04:00 SrA Brooke Mills 580756

He discharged from CT NG in 2010, is trying to get back in via Army reserves. But you must be a drilling reservist ( M Day or TPU) or regular active component to apply. ARNG Soldiers can apply for USAR AGR positions as well as ARNG however they must be released from the ARNG to accept a USAR AGR position.

Additionally the USAR prefers to asses personnel that are DMOSQ for the position they are applying for rather than to train them after the fact.

The best advice I can give is to join the USAR as a TPU 92Y, once your husband is MOSQ'd then submit an AGR application for the USAR program.
