Were you rated with one or more service connected disabilities SPC Elizabeth Pello?
Did you submit a packet to the VA yourself or did you take advantage of one of the non-profit agencies which help veterans submit disability packets?
I recommend you contact VFW, DAV or another agency which helps veterans complete the required paperwork to submit to VA. They will not only help you by submitting the packet; they will also represent you throughout the process instead of you having to hire your own attorney.

I concur with Colonel Ford! I used my State's local Veterans Services Representative and everything went very well! No need to hire any lawyers at all.

I pretty much went in blind. I called and they asked me a few questions and then told me no. I will contact my local agencies and try to see if I can get assistance. I never thought they would be able to help.

DAV (Disable Veterans of America) I'm a life member. But you do not need to join or be s member to get help. They do it all for free. Most of the reps are all retired E-9's
Take all of your documents from the military especially "military records". If you don't have them they will help you get them and tell you what all needs to be followed up.
Baby steps. Have all your ducks in a row and then attack from the front full speed ahead

Go to Disabled American Veterans. They got my benefits straightened out and they also found out other things to that helped female veterans

Confusing statement (and not your fault), "My local VA...", are you indicating that the local "hospital" won't treat you under the OEF/OIF law? Or the Regional Office (which could be in your town) denied your "service connected disabilities?"
