For instance, Fort Benning is the "Maneuver Center of Excellence" and Fort Huachuca is the "Intelligence Center of Excellence." Not sure when this started, but there are several now. In the case of Fort Rucker, it is the "Aviation Center of Excellence" as that is where Army Pilots attend flight school. I taught IERW and also was assigned to ACLC auditing the aviation maintenance contractors.. It's all part of the Lean process to reduce duplication of effort. For instance, Fort Knox is now the "Human Resources Center of Excellence". Recruiting, ROTC, and Human Resources Command have been consolidated at Knox.
Likewise in my civilian employment, we utilize a lot of plastic in the manufacturing of household appliances. Instead of each each plant having its own dedicated plastics manufacturing of parts for their specific appliance, one of the plants now makes plastics for all the other plants. It is our plastics "Center of Excellence." LTC Robin Gronovius Sat, 30 Dec 2017 01:00:57 -0500 2017-12-30T01:00:57-05:00 Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 31 at 2017 2:34 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/my-orders-say-center-of-excellence-is-that-a-school-house?n=3212819&urlhash=3212819

I think that's the term for major bases now.
Fort Benning is the Maneuver Center of Excellence
Fort Lee is the Sustainment Center of Excellence
Fort Sill is the Fires Center of Excellence SPC Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 31 Dec 2017 02:34:37 -0500 2017-12-31T02:34:37-05:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 2 at 2018 4:33 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/my-orders-say-center-of-excellence-is-that-a-school-house?n=3218152&urlhash=3218152

Aviation Center of Excellence means you're in a pool for Fort Rucker, you just have not been assigned a unit at fort rucker yet... i would call someone at the Soldier Support Center to see if you can get pinpoint orders sooner than later.
