The question is are you deployable? If not you only have one choice

can you deploy? Is your issue a disqualifying disability? think if you cannot deploy, or if the issue is a disqualifying disability, your choice would be irrelevant as regulations, not your provider, dictate if the med board proceeds. I have seen instances where, after the med board process has been completed, the SM was returned to duty, but not before the IDES process was completed.

PV2 (Join to see) - It looks like MEB is the way go as services are culling the permanent profile SM. Do it before the massive numbers of MEBs are started for the service.

PV2 (Join to see) - No body armor is a biggie, as that means non deployable, you got to be able to wear it in the event of indirect fire, even if all you do is support. In a hostile environment, you have to go from point A to point B, that too requires body armor. Seems like your condition prevents load bearing. wish you luck mate.

Your exactly right SSG Perrotto, I have osteoarthritis in my knees and my profiles prevents anything load bearing. It's just weird to me that the gave me the option when my profile says no body armor.

PV2 (Join to see) - hmmm - that's not good PV2 Mack, I am not a Doctor, but a quick google search tells me that it is not reversible, as the damage done is permanent. Not trying to pee in your cherios, but I believe this would be a disqualifying condition.

Also , not admonishing you, but try not to post your medical conditions, some things should stay between you and your healthcare provider, you could agree with my statement without going into specifics.

I broke my spine and have little to no feeling in my left leg. However, I have a permanent profile. My provider wanted to medboard me but after discussing it I am still able to do my job. On my profile it states "If SM is unable to perform all duty requirements except for rare occasions the SM needs to be seen for reevaluation to establish fitness for duty." The way how this was explained to me was that if at any time I feel like I cannot physically do the job anymore I can get medboarded. It also means that if my commander deems it they can initiate the process as well.
