SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5640018

I am a 13B currently on rotation to S. Korea. I am looking to reclass to 13F and my retention NCO say that if I reclass to 13F I stand an 85% chance of returning to Korea on unaccompanied orders back to Korea upon graduation of AIT. Could anyone provide me with insight as to whether this 85% chance has any truth behind it. 13F has been my goal since transitioning to to the Army but back to back Korea rotations is a deal breaker for me. Just need a second opinion. Thank you for your time and responses.

My background: SGT , Non-promotable (2 years in Army/ 4 years prior service). 3 dependents My retention NCO say that if I reclass to 13F, I stand an 85% chance of pulling orders to Korea. Any weight to this claim? 2020-03-08T01:56:05-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5640018

I am a 13B currently on rotation to S. Korea. I've been doing this a long time and i wouldn't predict that. If you have EFMP family members it's a pretty good chance you will go to Korea for whatever MOS you choose. As for 13F, I have a Soldier I just reclassed to 13F who requested Korea, received Korea and was immediately deleted and placed on assignment for Hood, so I would say it's a good chance you won't go to Korea.

Hopefully your career counselor mentioned that 13F doesn't accept E5s without a grade waiver from the proponent. Make sure you get that or you will get kicked out of the school when you arrive.

As for the back to back Korea part, a rotation and a PCS are completely different and the Army doesn't see that as back to back. Also, you can bring your family to Korea these days Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 8 at 2020 3:02 AM 2020-03-08T03:02:51-04:00 2020-03-08T03:02:51-04:00 2020-03-08T01:56:05-05:00
