For some reason my newest Solider didn't get his base pay for 3 months while attending an ASI school here at Fort Sam. At the 4th month of class he started getting his money. Does anyone know the appropriate form to fill out and hand into the finance office? I believe that form to be DD Form 827, “application for arrears in pay”.

Just submit a pay inquiry with LES showing no pay and take it to finance. That will likely be the quicker solution.

I asked him to collect all his LES papers for the last 9 months which should cover him from before he went to school to the present.

I can't believe this problem has festered for 3 months. I would say this is a failure of the total system and leaders.

That really pisses me off. However if he is assigned to a unit the 1SG and CO should know his financial situation. It should be them who demand corrected action. Leaders are in the business of taking care and fighting for the troops. This really makes me mad as this has festered for such a long time. Message me if I can help. I can’t believe the goat fuck he is going through. SSG(P) (Join to see)

Exactly what I was thinking. How did this manage to go this long without being addressed?

PO1 Lyndon Thomas - This is an all around FUBAR and leaders are not doing their job. I am not a vindictive person, but if everything is true, I think the leadership should feel pain as well. I cussed one time in the army, but I would love to get the CO, 1SG, NCOs together to administer a good ass chewing. This is a complete and total failure of leadership. I am so pissed at the situation. Leaders need to take care of the soldiers and love them.

MAJ Ken Landgren, SSG(P) (Join to see), SCPO Jason McLaughlin, PO1 Lyndon Thomas, MSG (Join to see) this is "dereliction of duty" on so many levels, the command is lucky the solider has not reached out to his Congressional member to start an investigation into this egregiousness.

MAJ Ken Landgren "pissed off" I'd be hand walking the solider and the paperwork up the CoC yesterday!!! This is unacceptable and impacts good order and discipline (aka destroy's trust!).

Finally, MSG (Join to see) while this speaks well of the solider's "...resiliency..." the issue is it should have NEVER happened!!! Taking care troops is OUR #1 job as leaders. The CoC should get the solider paid "yesterday" and if someone has to be up all night to fix it so be it!!!

No one at the ASI school looked into why the Soldier wasn't getting paid?

DS told him to contact the finance office but couldn't do it for him while he was in class.

SCPO Jason McLaughlin financial hardship should have been the red flag.

MSG (Join to see) - The fact that the Soldier passed the ASI school despite having those financial hardships is a credit to his resiliency. I think SGT(P) should address the lack of urgency the DS had in handling the situation with his COC, so they can address it with the ASI School COC. Military life is difficult enough, the thought of going without pay for 3 months is ridiculous. I wonder what would of happened if the CSM of the ASI School didn't receive ONE paycheck on the 1st?
