My son is almost a 3rd at VMI and I'm wondering if anyone has advice for helping him find meaningful summer employment until mid-August?

Has he looked into being a counselor for the Summer Transition Program at VMI? Also, is he commissioning? Because if you're looking for meaningful military related employment, it might be tough if it's not sponsored by his branch.

Too late now for STP, I think. He's planning to commission into the Army in 3 years. The next two summers are already planned with Army activities, but this summer has been a bust so far. Thank you for your response.

OK so VMI should have a program were they go train with active duty for the summer

Thanks. I think the military academies do, but since VMI is not an academy, it's not affiliated in that way.

VMI cadets can and do train with active duty for a portion of the summer if they are a member of one of the ROTC programs.
