SSG Private RallyPoint Member 1034160 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So there is rumor that the unit I currently am with will be shutting down. I've only been at fort Leonard Wood for a little over 4 month and just got engaged to my fiancée who is also stationed here. I would love to stay here seeing as I'm a MP I assume it will be easier than I am making it seem. I would like to know if there is anything I can do on my end besides express to my leadership my situation. Anything will help. Thank you My unit is being disbanded. Any advice on how I can remain at Fort Leonard Wood? 2015-10-12T02:07:05-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 1034160 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So there is rumor that the unit I currently am with will be shutting down. First get confirmation. 2nd start looking for multiple units/positions that you would like to go to on Fort Leonard Wood. Next make sure your leadership is informed and then start talking to the other units leadership about unfilled positions. If you find a unit and position you have a couple of options at this point. One option is to do a letter of acceptance and letter of release from the gaining and losing CSMs, through the S1 channels. 2nd option is to make contact with your branch chief at HRC and explain the situation and see what they can do for you. Risk with option two is if you have been at Ft LW for a while you've just put yourself on their RADAR and are now susceptible to being put on assignment to another location, regardless of your personal situation. If there is available opportunity at Ft LW it could be explained to branch that it is fiscally more responsible to do and inter-post reassignment as apposed to PCSing you to another location. If you need any assistance working this I am available to assist. You run the risk of getting bad info from a barracks lawyer. Your unit leadership will be working rosters in planning for the inactivation of your battalion. Ensure your CoC is aware of your situation and contact SFC Knight up at branch to do the same. All MPs are not leaving FLW. Structure changes are occurring and units are inactivating, but there will still be an element left in place; just under a different flag and smaller. It will be filled with personnel who have most likely been on station the least amount of time.<br /><br />You can also volunteer for DS duty. SGTs can be selected, but often are not as there are usually more than enough SSGs available (this is not the case for females).
