I am on her orders to be here but have been transferred to a new unit back in the states while in Germany. My new commander is threatening to give me a less than honorable discharge due to the fact she is not obligated to uphold the agreement I had with my last unit. There aren’t any guard units here and my ets date is in February of 2019. Is there anything that someone may know in regards to a situation like this? I was told by a reserve E7 that he went through the same thing and that there is a regulation that allowed him to switch to a reserve contract. I am not sure if that is valid but I would consider it if it was. I worked too hard to get where I am in my career and would much appreciate some insight on this situationNational guard member in Germany transfer to reserves?2018-11-08T07:03:34-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4109682<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am a national guard member accompanying my active wife in Germany. There are reserve units in Germany so there has to be some there. Go talk to a 1sg or higher hell even a UA at a reserve unit there and they will be able to help you. I am almost positive they would be able to help you out in your situation because I'm sure it has happened before.Response by SFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 8 at 2018 7:24 AM2018-11-08T07:24:37-05:002018-11-08T07:24:37-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4109797<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>For what it’s worth, that’s bogus but have you considered contacting the G.I. Hotline? They know the regs very well and can possibly find a solution in the regs you might not be aware of to save your bacon. You're going to love it. Now, a reserve or guard unit cannot make you stay anywhere. There is a lot of Reserve units in ktown. Go to Kleber or Daener kaserne not too far from Rhine ordnance base, they have units there. On kleber Kaserne there is a retention nco there, speak to him.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 8 at 2018 7:56 AM2018-11-08T07:56:58-05:002018-11-08T07:56:58-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4110435<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Also one more question if you guys don’t mind. I was in Germany when my previous unit transferred me to the gaining unit. I wasn’t notified or asked to sign anything, I would assume that my signature would also have to be on some kind of transfer form. I did not take part in the transfer in that aspect nor was I present so does that make it valid ? Is there a form that would require my signature to complete the transfer? If so I feel they did something they should not have done and I am suffering for it.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 8 at 2018 11:50 AM2018-11-08T11:50:02-05:002018-11-08T11:50:02-05:00SFC William Farrell4111975<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Good luck <a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="581694" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/581694-91b-wheeled-vehicle-mechanic">SGT Private RallyPoint Member</a>Response by SFC William Farrell made Nov 8 at 2018 11:36 PM2018-11-08T23:36:27-05:002018-11-08T23:36:27-05:00SFC J Fullerton4113810<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Requires a conditional release on a DD368 and DA4187 to be released from the ARNG in order to enlist into the USAR. If you have sufficient MSO (Military Service Obligation, at least 1 year IRR time) remaining after your current ARNG contract ETS, a retention NCO (79V) at a USAR unit can complete the transfer pretty simple. Its called an IRR transfer. You are carrying over your MSO to the USAR. Otherwise, you have to go through a recruiter and MEPS, once granted a release on an approved DD368 and DA4187, as a full blown enlistment.Response by SFC J Fullerton made Nov 9 at 2018 5:13 PM2018-11-09T17:13:58-05:002018-11-09T17:13:58-05:00COL Private RallyPoint Member4120414<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SGT Holbertson - simply stated... talk to a USAR recruiter and your unit's servicing retention NCO.Response by COL Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 12 at 2018 11:53 AM2018-11-12T11:53:53-05:002018-11-12T11:53:53-05:002018-11-08T07:03:34-05:00
