National Guard vs Active Duty Troops.

I myself had a lot of respect from Guard and Reserve people at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. One day we had a Guard guy pulling forecast duty and he was telling me that they had the better observers.

This is guy had a Phd in Germany and we got along fine. I said to him, "if that is true, why is your aneroid barometer 29.42 and but the tele-autowriter showed 29.92?

He was like 'Oh Sh*t!! Then cussing out his Observer! Hahaha. I was the best observer in that unit and he conceded that point to me.

Have you ever had this kind of thing happen to you?

It works both ways at times. I was not there but the Guard/Reserves beat down the Regular Army in cyber warfare. I haven't dealt with this much as I haven't dealt with any active duty infantry unit while being in the guard.

I never been a Guard but I got the opportunity to inspect Aviation Guard units and the level of proficient depend on the continuity of personal, many of this people were technician during the Week and Guard during the weekend so they will do the same job all year around for many years, what make then really proficient at it. in other cases I found Guard who work on a police department or a factory during a week and only on drill week they will work in aviation, the lack of experience was tangible, in the other hand an active duty soldier have more opportunity to do his or her MOS more frequently and make then job proficient in a shorter time
