National Guards in DC, who pays, who stays, new oath? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/national-guards-in-dc-who-pays-who-stays-new-oath

Is the Guard on Title 10 or Title 32 pay? If Title 32 is DC paying for all states? Is Congress supplementing any/all state pay? If a NG troop does not pass FBI/NSA "vetting", read democrat party loyalty test, who pays to send troop home? Once loyalty is established, I have been told the troop must take an added oath to support and defend Congress, in addition to the Constitution. There are no additional oaths. If the FBI doesn't vet people and one of those Soldiers happens to be an extremist who tries to start another riot, gather Intel for an extremist group, or has connections to seditious groups, then it will look pretty bad that the FBI didn't vet them in the first place SFC Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 31 Jan 2021 22:55:58 -0500 2021-01-31T22:55:58-05:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 1 at 2021 8:29 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/national-guards-in-dc-who-pays-who-stays-new-oath?n=6710534&urlhash=6710534

It’s Title 32, federal government is picking up the tab. The “additional oath” is to be appointed special police officers of either the US Capitol police or US Marshal’s Service to function in an extremely limited capacity as something like constables but without full arrest powers.

I saw some of the comments of people who got sent home. It wasn’t any kind of loyalty test to the Democratic Party, it was making comments about hurting members of Congress/civilians in the area or social media activity in support of fringe groups. During similar unrest last May, the Guard was activated. It has to be Title 32 because under Title 10, Posse Comitatus applies, hence no ability to perform police functions. The DC NG unit reports directly to the President. However it is very small. Bill Barr's letter pretty much is a NG 101 primer for the local mayor who was obviously clueless. The money came from the Feds as this wasn't a state activation. That said, was it legal? When Title 32 is used as a workaround to avoid Posse Comitatus, it's fertile ground for legal challenges.

https://thedcpost.com/william-barr-defends-national-guard-washington-dc/

Attorney General Barr Defends Use of National Guard in Letter to DC Mayor

US Attorney General William Barr said that the deployment of the National Guard in the District during the recent George

CAPT Kevin B.
