The video does not show what the damage to the ship was. It was certainly a spectacular fail, but one that happens from time to time with missiles, rockets, etc...

Yes on FB two of my friends that are DDG COs were discussing it. This is why we go to GQ and no one is allowed topside for these shoots. Fire was put out quickly only downside is one of those friends 2K behind in formation did not get to fire his SM2 which impacts department training.

No surprise to me! I've witnessed 4 Mishaps with the SM2 Missile. Obviously it still has issues. Watched 2 fail on the rail (no launch), Watched 1 not make it to Altitude, Self Destruct and shower the deck with Shrapnel and watched 2 try and return home the last one exploding not far from me.
