NCOER was rejected at HRC because my reviewer did not include his SSN. Should I write a Letter to the President of the Board?

Need some advice, particularly from Senior NCOs. My NCOER has not posted in my OMPF and I am eligible to be looked at this year. I've found out that it was rejected at HRC because my reviewer did not include his SSN (I already knew this but had to have a NCOER to PCS and still brought this issue up to my former commander and higher). Does this justify me writing a letter to the board?

Contact your old S1 and they need to adjust the error. Talk to your new S1 for additional assistance also.

I wrote a letter to the president of the board last year. In your case, I would definitely write one since it will explain a deficiency with your packet. Make sure you do it correctly though. There is very specific guidance you will need to follow.

If your board file will be missing a required document (NCOER) though no fault of your own, yes, a letter to the board is appropriate. Facts, not blame, brief, to the point, grammatically correct and formatted exactly.

SSG Private RallyPoint Member If you don't speak up via letter (tactfully of course, and in keeping with military policy and decorum), then it's unlikely that anyone else will step forward on your behalf. You may not find such a ripe opportunity later.

SFC, if you have the corrected NCOER you can write a letter and submit the NCOER. If you do not have the corrected copy, I would still draf a letter stating what you are doing to fix this and submit the incorrect for board review only. It cannot hurt to try, take special care not to get emotional, place blame or add verbiage that is not germane to the issue.

Absolutely write the letter, plus if you can get a printed copy of the NCOER that will be uploaded. In your letter to the board president explain that the latest NCOER is yet to be uploaded due to faults not of your own and this is just a copy of what is to be uploaded soon. The board can then us the NCOER for your possible selection.

Don't write a letter. The fact that the mistake made it past your Senior Rater, Rater, you, and all that checked for mistakes like S1, 1SG, and CSM. That board is going to say the same thing and ask how did this happen? It may trigger the question if the Soldier reviews her records like this what's that say about her when it comes to her Soldiers? Just being the honest broker.

Writing a letter to the President of the Board indicates that you care about your records and most importantly your career. Hopefully things worked out the way you wanted battle
