Our society has not seen the likes of what you boys went through, the conditions, the mental challenges... everything has yet to be matched or equaled (thank GOD), yes we have fatalities today but not at the scale you guys had, doesnt even come close. Some of today's soldiers dont even see combat ( a good portion of upper Officers) but still wear the CIB which to me has taken the bling out of the award and isnt that impressive as it used to be. I have seen men who were mountains and all Billy bad drop into the fetal position and cry like babies when we did drown proofing (glad I never had to see them in actual combat), we always prided ourselves on being "COMBAT READY" only to go off to a new kind of warfare and have the majority of casualties come from either stupid mistakes or friendly fire. The only thing this modern military has experienced that I wish you boys had was the support from home, You were drafted and didnt have the choice, it was either go or turn tail and run (sylvester stallone)... This could cause a problem in the future. What happens is the return of the draft. Since they raise the age limit to enter them military, we have a larger pool to pick from. In addition, women proved they can handle such jobs as a army ranger. Since this is the goal for women, then women will also provide a pool to pick from and will be required to register for the draft.
