You have to maintain a passing grade or you pay it back. As a Squadron Commander, I have had to sign a couple of extensions or requests for appeal to these due to deployments and training. I think people have to get briefed on this when they take tuition assistance as well. It should be on the application and something that you sign, acknowledging that you understand the requirements.
