New fad- or just another lamp. What is the hype with the Himalayan sea salt lamps?

Reason this peaked my interest is my wife is always trying something new. She ordered one for each side of the bed. I can't attest to anything within the article, but in my sarcastic tone I will tell you we don't have any ghost. Course we didn't have any before either....

As with anything that has a trendy appeal, Himalayan sea salt has started popping up everywhere. Not only can you now find it in many restaurants, but there’s now ‘salty yoga‘ (which takes place in a room covered in Himalayan rock salt), salt caves.

My wife just got into the essential oil stuff. I told her she could save a lot of money by huffing paint thinner. She didn't seem to find that amusing.

Not quite sure. But if you're interested, I put rocks in a little box, which you can name and call your pet. They should be a big hit....

I hope it is more of a fad but like lava lamps there may well be some who so enamored with these Himalayan sea salt lamps that they will be part of estate sales Maj Marty Hogan

the Talking heads say it is good for you... I know the salt on the food tastes good... But its Most Likely like the lava lamps of the 60's and 70's...

Had one sitting behind my chair for 5 or 6 years now. Guess the attraction gift shop where I worked was ahead of its time/or trends. Anyhow, haven't noticed any change in all of the claims listed in the article. It does make a great night light when headed to the refrigerator in the middle of the night though!

There are a lot of people on the hypothyroid forums who swear by the salt lamps. They say that it seems to help reduce some of their symptoms and that they sleep better. I don't know, I haven't gotten around to trying it.

Whenever I see something like this, there's a small part of me that wishes I had no conscience or integrity, and I'd make a million bucks scamming suckers out of their hard earned money.
"Here's the secret the big pharmacies don't want you know. Cancer is caused by the ions in your body getting demagnetized. Buy my kit and live forever!" I'll sell them iron water, of course it can only be natural water from the swamps of northern WI, with a NATURAL high iron content. They drink the water and then clip a little box I sell them onto one toe and one finger and run just high enough voltage for them to feel the tickle.
