New issue boots?

Military.com has this posted - new issue boots. These look nice and would make sense with the new uniforms coming up.

Sir,
These look much better than the last boots I was issued-- they have 2 inches of leather for a heel. These look much lighter and more comfortable.

These would be great, but I hope the would also issue the all leather version and/or the insulated GoreTex version. The These are built around the S2V last and those have been my favorite boots by far. I just wish there was a little more option in them since they are a bit hot in the summer, and there is no temperate waterproof version, just a winter version with GoreTex and 200mg Thinsulate. I have not checked out the "jungle version" with the material on the toe as shown above. I wonder if they would breath more in the heat.

Ahh the great decision...... Im sure it will take years for them to make a decision on this one.... As a Infantryman I make my living in my boots. I yet to find a Issue boot that offers both comfort and support for that matter. I truly hopes the army gets it right. If they do infact go with this design and model which appears to be the Rocky S2V which is a great boot however they get very hot in the summer. but still the Go to boot for this guy. I know there is alot of crying now of what boots are authorized I know my organization is going through that very issue. I also agree there has to be some sort of standard issue boot that works. The army has yet to come up with a solution to this problem. Now that the realease of the revised AR 670-1 has come out there are many looking at what is the standard. I also know many have purchased boots for fuction comfort and support. However, now this boot standard after much digging through the regs isnt very clear but some how a slide has shown up with what is no longer authorized and has created quite the debate. and looking across our formation 1 out of 5 have at least one pare of thes unauthorized boots which were perfectly legal up to about a month ago. Ill get off my soapbox now I have to go fine yet another pair of boots that will be with in the army standard. and I thought my wife had a lot of shoes.

I have a pair myself and they are so comfortable along with my Garmonts. However, will the Army pay the money and spring for them is a whole different question

I got screwed out of my last ones. The order came down a few months before I got out. They took their mandatory money for the new boots. They arrived the day I got out but they would NOT give me my pair. I paid for the damned things!!

The rockys are a comfortable boot. I have two pairs myself. I can't wait for the new uniform to come out. I loved wearing the multi-cam, it was much better than ACUs. Life would be easier if the Army would actually speed up the timetable

BLUF: Those boots are prototypes that were tested in the 25th ID Jungle Operations Course this winter, and are not a new Army issue boot.

To answer the question, the boots pictured are a prototype boot Rocky provided for the 25th ID to test in the Jungle Operations Course. Other vendors, to include Bates, Danner, and Bellville, also provided a variety of boots to test. As the S3 for one of the units that conducted the test, I was informed that feedback on all boots would be aggregated by the Army, which would ultimately result in new published requirements for a standard issue boot. That is still 1-2 years down the road.

Planned obsolescence at the soldiers expense. I'm wearing three pairs of old boots until the very last day I can wear them because it's a freaking rip-off that we have to pay $120 Plus for new boots when the color of the existing ACU boots are compatible!

I hope not. Other boots had a replaceable sole for repair after significant use. This looks molded on with no place for a cobbler to put on something new.
