Just realized after signing up on this site that my MOS has been changed since retiring. No longer a 9999 but now an 8999.

This subject is not earth-shattering but am I one of the last to stumble upon this information?

SgtMajor I noticed the same thing a while back. I'm a retired 1stSgt. Retired in 1980 so I guess I really don't care what number they give me for an MOS as long as I get my retirement check with the same numbers......hehehe Really I just think they didn't want us to think we were at the end of the road of MOS's think the MOS begining with ( is reserved for General Grade Officer's. But hell SgtMajor's have a star ! Semper Fi

I just copied this from MCO 1200.17E (MOS Manual) dated 8 August 2013.
MOS 8999, Sergeant Major-First Sergeant (SgtMaj/1stSgt) PMOS
I think it sucks; I've always enjoyed the 9999 MOS

Recruit is 9900 if I recall so it is fitting to retire with 9999.
