What are some New Soldier orientation/welcome best practices?

Do any USAR or ARNG soldiers have a solid New Soldier Orientation packet? Or something similar? Our unit has not used one in years and we need to do a better job. I’d appreciate any help!

It starts with regulations. AR 600-8-8. It's a Commanders Program. A good start is assigning a Sponsor (equal or higher rank) to the new Soldier the MOMENT they show on the Gains Roster. Contacting the Soldier as soon as they show on the Gains goes a long way.
