No more interim TS/SCI?

I have been trying to reclassify from MOS 38B to 35G for 8 months. HRC denied my request do to not having an interim TS/SCI. My S2 says I cannot receive an interim TS/SCI due to new policy. However, retention says I must have one to reclassify. How should I move forward? I've had an interim TS since March.

I think you're screwed until the reclassification rules catch up with the security clearance rules. Interim TS/SCI is in the doghouse now because of a White House scandal in which some officials got the interim clearance but never upgraded to the regular clearance. There was a media flap. The interim clearances were disallowed, the regular clearance reviews were completed, and some people were fired for not having the necessary clearances for their Administration jobs, having flunked their review. Probably to be consistent, this change has presumably been applied government-wide, including for enlisted MOS transfers. You are now in a catch-22: You can't get the clearance until you get the new MOS. but you can't get the new MOS because you need an interim clearance which no longer exists. Eventually, there should be some bureaucratic workaround, but it will take some time. Perhaps when the personnel elves realize they're running out of 35Gs because nobody can get in.

I recommend you check with what the ATRRS requirement is to attend training as well as what TRADOC 350-6 to identify what the requirement is from TRADOC. That can help point you in a better direction.

While I'm sure you have - have you tried getting in touch with the school at Ft Huachuca? I'm sure this has screwed up a number of people cued up to attend such AIT's in a number of MOS's not just Imagery Analyst.

From June 2016, “In mid-August 2016, PSMO-I will no longer grant interims based on the review of the SF-86. Instead, they will wait for the results of the Advanced National Agency Check (NAC) to come back before making a decision,”
Apparently your Command has not submitted you for the A-NAC, as they should have for your MOS reclassification.

Update: I contacted the MI school and the S2 at the school, and they said there is no such policy that prevents me from getting an interim TS/SCI. In fact, they just had students start class who came in with interim TS/SCI. I called my Brigade S2 for some straight talk and he is saying when he acquired about my SCI, he is being shut down by the G2, and so is my Battalion S2. When I asked why, he made it sound like it sound like its more for personal preference than policy, but i haven't personally talked to anyone at G2, so i won't assume. The school house said my S2 should've submitted a request through DISS saying i require interim TS/SCI for reclass training. They said sometimes you will receive push back on the interim SCI because they want to wait until TS investigation to closed before granting SCI. The whole point of the interim is to allow for speedy transition to attend the course. I'm really trying to exhaust all my options before going to higher echelons. However, it has been 8 months, and it is the recommendation of all the S2's at this point. I'm really not sure why the hold up is at the G2 level and why they are refusing to push the interim SCI. What are your thoughts on this matter? Thanks for your help.

A division level g2 can grant an interim sci to get someone out of that situation with a memo

WHo has the reg on that because I'm in security and the guys are telling me that not true so I would like to get the proof for this information is being put out by OPM or DSS
