I really love this article, it's on point. How do you feel about it, should people that have not the slighest clue about a certain topic be allowed to be heard equally with subject matter experts?
In this arcticle it's about thte Anit-Vaccination movement, but it applies to all topics you can think of.
So what is your take on this?

Fact, truth, and reality trump unsubstantiated opinion in EVERY CASE @1lt l s

Fact and truth can be objective reality, but the problem becomes that so many people subjectively deny that reality and replace it with their own. For example the "Facts" and "Truths" of any given religion. You may be 100% certain about the narrative of Jesus, but someone else is equally as certain about Shiva, or Mohammed or Thor, etc. etc.. And it is no small number of people for whom science does not fit into their internal narrative of the universe, therefore they do not consider it to be reality. So in their situations, the truth that is objectively true remains, but they are seeing everything through the distorted funhouse mirror that is their holy literature.

I agree that many look at the world through a distorted lens. Unfortunately once an image, (or a reality) passes through a disruptive lens, or is reflected by a distorting mirror, and is then perceived, the image of reality is altered. It is changed, and no longer resembles reality. It is no longer real.
Truth, though, can be a different matter. One definition of "Truth",-- - a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like: mathematical truths.". While another definition of " truth " isa judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true <truths of thermodynamics>.
Clearly, we understand, as our knowledge and understanding, increase, and our ability to measure becomes ever more precise, we understand there are some holes in the laws of thermodynamics, but, as a whole, and for everyday use, they are an accepted truth, though, we know, not the whole truth.
This is not to be confused with the truth as people understand it, based on their faith, which is something that can neither be measured, nor proven without a measure of belief.
So, I world respectfully submit that reality is reality. As Aristotle famously told us "A is A". Truth, though may be " accepted truth " for functional clarity. "Truth"' based on unverifiable faith, or belief, though, brings us back to the lens and the mirror.

This is why I throw my lot in with Atheists and Scientists. I have a fundamental lack of trust for anything that comes at reality with an attitude of "we have ALL the answers and this truth is infallible" Especially when you pepper that with a little "Asking questions is wrong" and then add in some "faith" and "X is real because holy book says because X wrote holy book because X is real because . . ." for spice. Serve with a little bit of "avoid admitting you don't know at all costs" to flavor.

Well, as always with me, it's all about semantics.
Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions.
I don't believe everyone is entitled to have their opinions heard or considered, however.
Opinions based on facts or scientifically sound theories are valid and worth of consideration. Just whimsical opinions are not, as they have historically caused more damage than produced benefits.
Religion comes to mind.
Climate change comes to mind.
Anti-vaccination comes to mind.
Hollow earth comes to mind.
Fake moon landing comes to mind.
You may not agree with basic scientific tenets, but that doesn't mean those are wrong.
If anything, the scientific method emphasizes observation, gathering of facts, coming with a theory and then proving it.
As opposed to some nut dreaming of something and spilling it on national TV just because you have a podium to do so.
