It would give people a chance to see what skills you have outside of the usual "lead-deploy-lead-counsel-PCS-deploy" cycle. It would also give younger soldiers new goals they might not otherwise know about, or try for.<br /><br />Sad to say, but unless you have someone in your unit who has earned a non-mil award, you very likely would never know it existed. While being good at whatever you chose has its owe incintive to be The Best, <br />Alit of things that improve ones own position and or the units, they are overlooked or credit isnt given where its due. Along with that is your proverable snake in the grass who takes credit for what s\he hasn&#39;t done. Yes and they should be a part of their permanent military records.
