What advice or information can you provide for someone looking to start a non-profit organization?

I currently am in the process of starting a non profit organization to help service members and there family's dealing with mental illness and suicidal thoughts or attempts. I wanted to get advice from this outlet to see what direction i should go? Thank you in advance
