Now that I'm an 89A, if I volunteered for EOD school and failed, would I be placed back in 89A or reassigned to the "needs of the Army"? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/now-that-i-m-an-89a-if-i-volunteered-for-eod-school-and-failed-would-i-be-placed-back-in-89a-or-reassigned-to-the-needs-of-the-army

I am looking into switching MOS's. From 89A to 89D. I wanted to do 89D right out of the gate but circumstances prevented that choice at the time. My question is, now that I am MOS qualified, if I volunteered for EOD school, and didnt pass, would I then be at the mercy of "needs of the Army", or be placed back in 89A? You can always ask your career counselor, but expect that the answer will be no. The Army spent money to train you, they will want their money's worth.
Now that wasn't your question. The answer to that is that the Army will generally just move you back into your previous MOS since you are already trained for that duty.
