This is my first assignment (prior Reservist to Active Duty) I currently live in Houston and we do not have a MTF nearby. I would appreciate any information or guidance on how I can get started ASAP, I have to report in less than 60 days - thank you

Yes, it's part of the POM preparation for overseas movement process.

You also need the no fee passports with SOFA stamp. Especially if your spouse wants to work.

CPT (Join to see) - passports through your servicing personnel directorate? They can't be tourist Passports. They must also have the SoFA stamp

CPT (Join to see) sofa stamp is in the passport when it’s issued...towards the back. Just check when they issue it

Unless your orders state command sponsorship has been granted then you will need to have them go through an EFMP screening in order to be granted sponsorship.
A civilian or military doctor can fill out the screening form but an MTF with an EFMP section will have to review it and send it forward. The same thing happens when you're on a non-Army post, if you ever end up at a CONUS joint assignment.

Thank you SFC (Join to see) I’m sure you have been asked this plenty of times but what is the usual timeframe for this to be completed?

CPT (Join to see) if you start it prior to leaving it can be about a month or two. On top of that you'll need to apply for expedited no fee passports and possibly Visas as well.

Thanks SFC (Join to see). Do you know if my orders need to say “concurrent travel” or is “MVMT of DEPNS” along with their names and DOB sufficient verbiage for my family to get to Germany with me once EFMP screening is complete and they receive military passports? Thanks again

CPT (Join to see) as far as I remember, the choice is yours to do concurrent or non concurrent travel. When the travel is non concurrent you simply file II voucher upon your family's arrival. Unless you are a single parent the Army will not pay for you to fly back to pick up your family, so your spouse would have to fly out with your children alone if you choose non concurrent travel
