I know we did the majority of our medical issues beyond the aid station in Ord. However, our parent organization was out of Ft Hood, this was from early 94 through the summer of 97. Was the best duty ever! Was TDY for 2 years while I was there. Lived In a hootch. That was different. Some solders lived in the super hootch. Our headquarters were in Camp Roberts and testing sites were in Hunter Liggett. Our Battalion was made up of an HQ Company, an Armor Company, an Artillery Company and a Maintenance company. (One of the weirdest units in the Army) We were testing starlight scopes and new fire power weapons that were helicopter-mounted during the Vietnam conflict. When Camp Roberts was deactivated in April of 1970, I received orders for Vietnam and served as commanding officer of the 1st Signal Brigade's Area Maintenance and Supply Facility (AMSF) in Cam Rahn Bay.
