This is an issue that I have seen addresses mostly for pilots, but I feel it might be an under utilized source throughout the military. I know that in many capacities the WO Corps is lacking in candidates and are looking to swell their ranks.
I myself, as I transition further through my career and find myself in more and more staff meetings and performing my job less and less have considered this option as a possible route later in my career. I also feel it will be difficult to make LTC or higher as a Signal/MI officer and I feel I could continue to mentor and drive soldiers as a WO. My favorite part of the job is doing my assigned job and mentoring soldiers to do theirs at the best they can do.
Is this something we should be looking at as a possible career move? How about to help fill the WO ranks that are lacking in some respects?

I would likely stay MI or Signal, depending on what the specifics of the job was. I just want to work more closely with soldiers and continue to do the job I was trained to do, instead of sitting in staff meeting as my sole duty. I do look forward to Company Command as well.

You should really look into PSYOP then. It's heavier (in numbers) in the enlisted side. A CPT is a detachment commander and Majors make company commanders.

SGT (Join to see) I am currently in transition to Signal, which I am happy about, but if I was to go PSYOP I would have to transfer to the Reserves or to Active Duty (wife would kill me).
I do know some members in the local PSYOP unit, so I may poke around and ask.

Sir, I have seen NG Officers transition to WO in FA and Ordnance branches on the National Guard side. The process then wasn't that difficult. I would reach out to the School house to see if your field crosses over and what it would take.
