According to studies that come out around every election more officers vote conservative or label themselves conservative than enlisted. Is this what you see in the officer and enlisted personnel around you?
EDIT:
I should have mentioned that the studies were based on the declared voting habits of officer and enlisted in private surveys.

I would wager that the higher in rank a member is the higher the odds are they lean to the right.

You might have something about rank and its influence on Flag Grade officers trending more conservative, but there are certainly modern exceptions from GEN Clark to GEN Powell and several others.

LTC Gavin Heater - Sir Gen Powell is a Republican, he only appears to be a liberal because he believes hurricanes are caused by low pressure systems and not gay marriage.

False. I've seen the full gamut of political stance from both E's and O's. Frankly, I never gave a damn as long as they had my back and did their jobs when it mattered. Made for some spirited debates in the bar post-mission though. Good times!

Despite articles from Huffington Post declaring the military is becoming more liberal, Military Times conducted a survey a few years ago which claimed that 80% of officers identified as conservative. Though less were identifying as Republican, the trend remains.

Potential language problems here. I'm an arch conservative, but like Richard Nixon, that makes me a "liberal" today. big media is very guilty of trying to sort us into faction B and faction C, but that ain't natural. I hope someone in service is trying to sort it out. My prejudices from cold war anti-soviet service make me wonder how many troops are pro-soviet.

My experience has been the complete opposite. It's the GED's and those from the bible belt states( those tend to have the most abysmal education systems, regardless of level) that tend toward conservatism, while the educated and worldly tend toward more left leaning thought processes..

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - Congratulations on overcoming the odds and becoming one of the few people from that region who achieve more than mediocrity sir.
That's one of the best parts of the military, it provides opportunites traditionally not available for those who come from traditionally low performing locales.

SFC Michael Hasbun - You still can't help being ignorant to reality can you? Did you see the rest of the examples of my family WHO ARE NOT MILITARY? The North, Midwest, Pacific Coast aren't low performing locales? WOW!!!
