Cadets should know that Transportation, Quartermaster, Ordnance, and sometimes Medical all become Logistics corps officers after CCC or a multifunctional company command (like an FSC).

Without fuel, ammo, and a working power pack, an M1 tank is just a 72 ton obstacle with a radio.

they get briefed on the structure of the army. I would say Cadet do not not mess with warrant officers. Or your supply sergeant.

I think cadets heading to MP need to realize that the branch is ridiculously diverse. It's not just checking IDs at the gate or writing tickets on post. There is a whole array of combat support and detention operations that are included in the branch, in addition to the garrison law enforcement functions. I think that they're also generally unprepared for the intensity of MP BOLC (I know I was, holy cow). Be ready for really long days and lots of OPORD writing. But we're also the only branch with dogs, so that's definitely a plus!

I worked as an Army Civilian with many fine officers from "support" career fields you listed. Cadets should consider post-Service employment--even it they plan to stay for 20. The fields you listed are directly transferable to civilian jobs. MP leads to Law enforcement; QM to supply chain management or warehouse management; TC to truck driver or dispatcher and supply chain management. AG is a good fit for officer managers or general office help. FA (finance not Field Artillery) fits in with several money related fields such as banking, accounting, business analyst. Field Artillery requires higher math skills with possible follow-on employment in surveying.

They need to understand their place in an organizational chart for a Brigade/Battalion. What they do in garrison and war. To give world class support.

There is a lot more that goes Into artillery than the single call for fire lab you did in rotc!

It's a lot of fun and a branch that will always provide challenges and opportunities for growth.
