This is not primarily about women getting hurt at a higher rate. It is about the capability, on average, of men vs women. Can some women pass ITB, yes. We both know that ITB is not as hard as actually being in a rifle platoon/company. Most schools are not as hard as the unit you will arrive at in your primary MOS.

Women getting hurt at higher rates effects readiness and can get those that remain killed. When people are shooting slower, less accurately etc it effects mission results. The most dangerous weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle. We cannot allow that not to be the case. Can women in a controlled environment shoot as well as men? Yes. But when you roll in significant physical exertion, adverse conditions etc and ask them to shoot it is not the same thing.

You can make the same argument on mortars, machine guns tracked vehicles etc.

The Commandant is going to have to go against Mabus on this but his job is Commandant of the Marine Corps. He does not want to be the guy to put Marines at risk, reduce combat effectiveness and compromise missions.
