On active duty, how is a 92F job? What are some good bases someone has been to with this MOS, and what are the pros and cons?

So my wife went in and this was the only non combat job they had that day and she took it. Not knowing anything about it. It is only 2 years and she plans to reclass but want some in site before hand.

92f Totally depends on her assignment, most of the pipe line and tank farms units are assigned to reserves, most 92F on active rarely see or operate a pipeline system or a tank farm system. Most on active are usually assigned a fuel truck or in in an aviation brigade as a fueler for choppers.

I'm prior service doing the blue to green program, and the only job they could offer me was 92F, not because of my ASVAB score but because that was the only job available. I just want to know how AIT is in general and what I have to look forward to these next 3 years? And any advice on this job would be appreciated. ?

You could go to a lot of places but you wanna be in aviation or at least sustainment where you learn a lot about your job and do it constantly but my advice is reclass! If you enjoy it then of course continue the MOS but if not reclass. Took me awhile to do so but it’s very possible.

You can go just about anywhere as a 92F. I have been doing this for 21 years now and I have enjoyed it. I spent 14 years on active before transitioning to the reserves. I recommend that she try to get in aviation. You can learn a lot from daily testing to accountability. I only got to spend time on 2 bases. I was stationed at Fort Campbell and Hawaii. Hawaii was great but I loved Fort Campbell. It all depends on what is available when she get to her duty station. As long as she got good leadership she will be alright

I've only been stationed in 2 army bases.
Fort Stewart & Fort Leonard Wood.
Both totally different commands.
FSGA is FORSCOM. FLW is TRADOC.

If you're looking for experience & training opportunities. Ft. Stewart is your go to. They love the field & the range. As a 92F you would be with your battalion for days/weeks at the time even when they are just doing ranges.

If you want a slower, barely anything to do pace. Go for FLW. Although if your unit does have training, it would be longer term (weeks/months) since it's hard for them to schedule locations because Trainees have priority. Most of our trainings are done out of FLW for that reason.

Fort Stewart will let you experience your MOS, what you will be doing when deployed and in my honest opinion more individual training (4 mile validation run, 3,6,12 annual ruck march, etc). As for Fort Leonard Wood would let you slow down and focus more on your educational/records side (continuing college, schools, certifications, etc)

All in all they are both great bases. Fort Stewart taught me alot on my MOS side. Fort Leonard Wood got me back to college & focused me on getting more stuff on my record.

When i held a 92F slot, ive been to Camp Humphreys and Fort Polk. Depending on the station you get and unit you are with, you will do your job frequently, or not at all and just be a motorpool asset. At both units and both stations, i didnt do my mos specialty since the units needed me in other sections. If this happens to you, id advise to take any experiences with other sections and use it when you pcs. Not only was it good to experience other parts of a fsc/bsb, but when combined with being compitent in your given mos makes you a great asset to the unit your with.

I was a 77F now 92F from 2003-2010. My duty stations were Camp Humphries Korea, to Ft Campbell, deployment Iraq under 101st. Then back to Korea for a stint on K-16. Here’s what I experienced. “The Hump” Korea. Aviation unit aviation refueling. CH-47 unit. It was freaking awesome! Aviation is almost always a more laid back unit and if you like to fly it’s even better. Ft Campbell, line haul unit. 102nd QM. Volunteered to deploy with 227th GS which was a hell of a deployment. 5K tankers and we pushed 40-80K gallons to FOBS around BIAP. Then back to Korea again. This is where is gets interesting. K-16. A post of about 500 soldiers. Without a doubt the BEST KEPT SECRET in the Army. Why? You are 17KM from Yongsan Garrison. So you have a major post near by but you don’t have to deal with all the bs of being stationed on a mega post. K-16 is primarily a aviation post c-12’s for fixed wing aircraft and 2-2 ASLT UH-60’s is the primary unit there. AWESOME unit! If you ever get the chance for a post in Korea I will say this. DO IT! Do everything you can though to avoid Camp Casey though unless you like being around Infantry. If I had to pick a unit and location for an assignment for a full military career, I would choose 2-2 ASLT, K-16 PRK! If you have any further specific questions don’t hesitate to ask.

First off, it is combat if she gets deployed to a combat zone. Second, when I was stationed at Fort Drum I had fun. Everyone in my unit made the unit feel like their second family. Fort Drum is really a family oriented duty station. Fort Hood is one place she doesn’t wanna go to.
