How much habenyou done thus far? Assocs? Bach? Grad? !asters? PhD? Ambitions? Objectives? Also, have you gone for reconstructive evsl by endoscope, possibly arthroscopy, or asked about it? Further, different svcs might view the matter differently...if you want anything of clinical major, look at USPJS Commissioned Corps, esp their COSTEP Jr and Sr level, their equiv or an ROTC, you might qualify with them, and possibly nenable to be assigned back to Army for clinical, esp psych related clinical care, there's a whole USPHS partnership with the svcs...don't just assume because Army might let you go no other svc wants you, OK? If so - you can track it on your AKO account - it gives in depth timelines for each phase of the process. along with an estimated time of completion. usually the timeline is pretty accurate - about 1-2 weeks give or take from that estimated time. Barring unforeseen complications. (getting hurt while performing whatever duties that you can) you can pretty much backwards plan from that date to complete ACAP, Turn in your CIF ( all that takes is a memo from your Commander stating you are processing through the IDES system if he allows early turn in). Good luck Troop. It is an arduous process to say the least. One issue was Soldiers in the process hurt another part of their body which resulted in the process going back to day 01. Our average was around 500 days, max was in the 700s. And that is if you don't have to go to Fort Lewis for another round of physicals. It is all about how many MEB folks are in the system and how many providers are present. There are numerous staffing layers that are involved. My initial reading of your question- I would expect a line of duty investigation to be initiated. Why? You stated a bone is missing and then a dislocation. The Chain of Command and MEDCOM is going to ask how, why and most importantly when did this occur. My advice is to follow all orders, be on time for all appointments, and importantly start saving your paycheck. You may want to pay a visit to your base's Education Center to see if you have any education benefits. I know the educational benefits have been updated or changed which limited the benefit to the Soldier based on years served. His total MEB process took about 6 months, then it took another 6 to 8 months for the discharge process. Now a word of advice, if they give you a choice of retirement pay or VA disability pay, take the disability pay. The reason is disability pay is not taxable, and if your married the spouse can not take any disability pay, but if it was retirement pay they would be entitled to half of it.
