There are openings there for full time Military Police with the National Guard and I might apply. What are your opinions of Fort Greely? Is the pay worth being out in the middle of nowhere? What's the leadership and camaraderie like? I've been there only for Military Mountaineering course but quickly realized how active fishers and hunters would be! There have been a lot of changes since then. But if you enjoy the outdoors, it is a great place for hunting and fishing, mountaineering, etc. In the winter it will be extremely cold and around late December-early January, you don't get much sunlight. It is the opposite in summer though. The nearest McDonalds was 80 miles away so it is remote. Hope this helps. I'm PCSing out this summer and am not ready to leave yet. I am active and not Guard, but from what I've seen in my about three years here I'd switch if I could. If you like outdoor activities (summer and winter) then you'll love it here. If you prefer large cities and shopping malls, you'll hate it. It's 100 miles one way to WalMart. Seems terrible but it's actually quite nice. Everyone here knows everyone and it has a great small town feel. I'd stay forever if the Army allowed it. This is the first place where I loved my job AND the family loves living here! If you have more questions let me know and/or I can get you in contact with some of the Guard people.
