There will be times it shouldn't be used but to be able to review and see where you or your team can improve weak points would be beneficial Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made May 20 at 2015 1:09 PM 2015-05-20T13:09:35-04:00 2015-05-20T13:09:35-04:00 SPC Nate Lamphier 683333

I think any time you can incorporate a new device to help train/prepare anyone in any profession is a good thing. Especially with the size of a GoPro...it isn't going to affect movements etc to a point where it is now a hazard to an individual or a group.

I would think the Military could (or maybe it has) developed a camera that they could use that would be even smaller to mount on a Soldier's helmet. Recording devices offer an unbiased and untainted view of the training. It doesnt have a personal bias it sees what it sees and can be used extensively in the formal AARs to show key points both positive and negative.

I say use them in combat as well. Think if we had setups like the Colonial Marines in Alien (a good movie by the way) but my point on the comparison is during engagements we become focused on the enemy but think of the potential intel goldmines that could be picked up by an unemotional observer, plus this could help with further development of TTPs.
